9-9-10 - Alex

So today we got a writing day which we are suppose to write about whatever as I look around I see a lot of people blogging, writing down goals, everything and I got to say its pretty weird just sitting here in dead silence its never this quiet in here. I used to hate blogging but now I do like it, I like when people comment on it and seeing how people respond to what I have to say. You should defiantly keep doing this after this amazing group of seniors leave :)

Today in class we all drew a picture illustrating a point in our life in which our lives were greatly affected. The hard part was we had to use our non-dominant hand. Since we weren't using our regular hand to write, our pictures were pretty pathetic. There were a couple people that had good drawings, but most of them were hard to understand. The point of using our non-dominant was to make it so everyone was uncomfortable with the drawing. It was a fun activity, and I think we all learned new things about each other.

Today we continued to set up our blogger or word press accounts. We started to write our first post on the websites. We started looking at the other kids from Van Meeter, and Sioux Central. We are going to comment on their blogs about what we got out of their writings, and encourage them to keep blogging.

Today we learned how to respond to someone else’s posts. What is right: Call them by their username, or first name; encourage them to keep blogging, and specific in your response as to what you are talking about. We also talked about what is wrong to say: don’t be negative and degrading to the person who posted the blog. Some of us then actually began blogging.

Today in class we talked about and discussed how to blog and make our own blogs. Mrs. Farnsworth showed us some videos that freshman made that were pretty cool. We had to make our own blog account so that we had the opportunity to blog when we wanted. We had the choice to use Word Press or Blogger, we learned how to upload pictures and videos from Blogger. We had to write a theme or subject on what we were going to blog about, then we went around the room and shared what everyone came up with.

Today we wrote about how we want our senior year of high school to go. Then we were put into small groups of four people. Every one in the group shared what they wrote. Most of it was about where people plan on continuing their education. Afterward everybody within the groups told each other what we liked about their writing.

Today we started the class of by looking at the class blog. Then Mrs. Farnsworth showed us her Prezi she made. I found it interesting that you could put videos right in it and not have to use a link. It is also more exciting than keynote or powerpoint. We took a couple of minutes to write down what we wanted our senior year to be like. We went around the class and had everyone share one on their list. It was a fun day in Composition and I hope we have more during the year.

For this day we found out how LanSchool worked then why the computers were messing up the other day. We talked about the class website then went on to edit the look of our page. When we found an overall acceptable page design we split into two groups to play Apples to Apples. The reason we probably did this is to most likely to get us comfortable with one another so when we start sharing our writing we won’t be as nervous or uncomfortable.

Today we were supposed to bring in an object that describes us and helps make us who we are. We all got into a circle and then each person spent a couple minutes explaining the object they brought and how it symbolizes them. It was neat to see the the different objects and hear all the reasons as to why this item described that person. We were able to ask questions so that the person could explain themselves more and help everyone else understand their reasons.
